Is there a difference in quality between the Fender Mexican Stratocaster and an American Standard Stratocaster?

I was wondering... they're both Fenders, but the Mexican is cheaper..? What's the differences in quality, if any, and why is the Meican cheaper?|||It's just cheaper to build the guitars in Mexico. There may be subtle (VERY subtle) differances in tone, but the Mexican series sounds amazing, especially for the difference in price.|||its cheaper to buy labor workers in mexico the mexican and american is just where their made, you can find a mexican one that is just as good an american for cheaper, because mexico's minimum wage is lower than the US's. i think people are just biased because it seems better to have an american made fender lol|||The Mexican is cheaper because the build quality is not as good and neither are the raw materials. However, the difference in sound is not enough to merit the $700-800 hike in price for an American Fender in my opinion.|||The American Standard is made of better wood, that's for sure. Probably the American has better pick ups also...

But they're both excellent guitars|||the american series is just a better guitar, try playing both of them and compare the quality in sound
