What were the factors that contributed to changing American standard of living 1865-1900?

Help! I have to lead a discussion on this tomorrow morning!|||the industrial revolution.

it caused business tycoons to grow and become more wealthy, while the working class had horrible working conditions and lived in some serious poverty!

the standards of living dropped tremendously in the east, and in the west were poor farmers who were just living off the land.

also, people were andgry about working conditions so they protested, which made the general feel of the public a negative one.

but on the bright side, people were starting to come into their own.

there was also western expansion and the railroad boom

plus coal mining, oil... all that contributed to gross cities that people had to live in and deal with the nastiness of all that crap.|||industrial revolution

trains as transportation

use of coal
