What region of the US is standard american english most prevalent?

Additionally, what determines standard american english?|||they should teach English-English|||The standard was created from a particular Midwestern pronunciation, I forget exactly which. Few people, with the exception of broadcasters, use SAE. I had to learn it before beginning my radio career.|||which ever school system has the highest ratings|||Most prevalent, I'd say eastern Kansas and this area. (Nebraska, Missouri)

Whenever I visit other parts of America, people always comment how I have "perfect American english" and its good I don't talk with regional accents, like they do.
