How to remove the handle from a Standard American single faucet?

I am trying to remove the handle from an Standard American faucet. I have loosened the hex screw, but it still will not come off. It has a rounded cap that the faucet sits on.





Thanks!!|||you may have to get a device called a handle puller to remove it. most home improvement stores have them.|||Sometimes you have to remove the set screw completely. Spray WD40 the the hole and let it stand for awhile. Use a hammer and tap lightly while pulling on the handle. Don't use heat as this discolor the handle or disort it. Just keep appling WD40 and tapping it will come off.|||make sure the screw is lose enough then grab the handle and pull upward while twisting it back and forth, they are difficult a lot of time because they get corroded if that doesn't work apply heat and try again.
