How are the Fender American Standard Stratocasters better than the Standard series?

Sweeter tone, easier to play, or anything else?

I know there's one more fret (which I don't know why they take away one fret from the Standard series).

So, what's the difference in quality?|||Better (thinner) finish, better bridge and bridge saddles, better tuners (staggered), hotter pickups, better electronics, better neck finish, more color options, better hard case... Simply put, a far superior guitar.

It is closer to a good, vintage instruments but with modern build quality and playability. I suspect the "vintage feel" is the reason for the fret thing you mention.
