the standard is only 500 bucks, i think its mexican made. but is it really worth the difference if im not a professional?|||The mexican strat doesn't come close to the real deal American made. First of all, the hardware and the pickups are not even close to the american made Fender. Also, the quality of wood is not the same.
The American model is made with wood that was aged in the process. Not so with Mexican made counterpart. The hardware fails after a couple of months sometimes, and the sound is muddy.which accounts for the difference in price.
If you can afford an American made Fender, it is an investment. It will gain value and the sound will get better with age. The mexican will not get better in sound nor gain in value. Actually the reverse is true.
So, it is worth it. I have an old 62' Fender and wits worth lots of $$$ as well as my old 69' Gibson Les Paul. I still play them and I take care fo them as well.
Good Luck
