What is the standard American English way of pronouncing the word "important"?

My sister keeps pronouncing it "im-por-dent" and it annoys me. She says that`s the correct way to pronounce it, but I think the correct way is "im-port-n`t". What is the correct way, in standard American English dialect?|||ihm-pour-tent|||They're both pronounced that way in America, but personally, im-por-dent annoys me a little, as it sounds a bit childish. I've always said im-por'-n't. I'd say neither is wrong, it's just personal taste.
