When they never can be? The American standard of beauty is the opposite of African standard of beauty (Yes, I know Africa is a continent), but almost every African is mixed with black or are black. I see dark skinned beautiful black women have low self-esteem from seeing light skinned black women that aren't as pretty in the media. Don't they realize the American standard of beauty is white-light brown skin, full lips, straight hair, thin or semi-curvy body, and narrow nose?|||You must be one of the few that suffer from that delusion. Black women pay little heed to your so called American standard. They are too diverse among themselves to emulate just one style. They are not lemmings like whites who have to constantly modify their faces and bodies to achieve media approval. They have the creativity and insight to pick out a look and style that makes them look so good that even white women copy them. That is not the American standard, that is your standard and the only person that standard is import to is you. You are the brainwashed one, the media controls you..........................%26gt;_%26lt;|||Just because they don't fit in the standard of american beauty doesn't make them not beautiful, not everyone is brain washed by the media, like my self i see beautiful white girls black girls and asian girls in their own features. anyway i Guess i didn't answer your question, Why do American blacks get wrapped up in trying to be the American standard of beauty ?
you mean black woman... and its because its all they see on t.v simple as that, maybe in the future they will be role models for them who don't try to look white to please the white media, but embrace the way god made them , like Rhianna apart from the hair, but she never had to do surgery on her nose. her nose suits her and she looks sexy with it as do i might i say so myself|||Yeah. I agree, right? It's sad.
It's the media's fault. The media is also mostly owned by white people and they don't want to show black beauty. Until that changes, things will stay the same.|||Actually the full lips, curvy body, you just stated black women do fall under. In the black community we have set our own standard and perception of beauty. You just haven't caught on to it yet.|||i guess because they live in america, not africa|||I really don't think this is as deep as you try and make it sound. I don't know any African Americans that are trying to be anything be themselves. If anything i have always seen blacks as trying to not be like whites in this country, besides when if comes to interviewing for jobs and going to school, because then, you have to do it there way, since they are the majority. But In America being white is being lame, snitch, weak, lack of rhythm, boring sex ect. NO OFFENSE, but I've seen this same dumb question three times already today.
Plus, blacks have their own standard of beauty and it doesn't include pale deathly skin or slits for lips.
