American standard whirlpool turns itself on?

We have an American Standard whirlpool that occasionally turns itself on. I unplugged the controller to keep from running the pump dry, and it works fine when I plug it back in, but for some reason it comes on by itself sometimes. I don't know the model, but the closest new model I could find is a Savonna. The controller model number is ETO-2D.|||Sounds like a timer problem.|||Hi, Chris.
